2026 El año en que la carne argentina conquistará el mundo

2026: The Year Argentine Beef Will Conquer the World

Argentina’s livestock industry is undergoing a profound transformation. After a historic drought that severely reduced the cattle stock, the sector is beginning to see the early signs of a new cycle of sustained growth, driven by pasture recovery and increasing global demand for high-quality beef.

Experts predict that 2026 will mark a turning point. Beef exports could reach record levels, provided that trade policies remain open and the industry successfully adapts to the evolving demands of international markets—especially in areas such as sustainability and traceability.

During a talk organized by ADBlick Agro, livestock consultant Víctor Tonelli offered a clear overview: the 2023 drought caused one of the largest reductions in Argentina’s cattle herd in the past 30 years. This led to a drop in domestic beef supply between 300,000 and 400,000 tons compared to the average of the last five years. However, this crisis also presents an opportunity for recovery, with expectations for full pasture regeneration by 2025.

Tonelli predicts that 2026 will be the year Argentine beef exports “explode.” International demand remains strong, especially from China, though prices have decreased. The key lies in the country’s ability to meet the requirements of premium markets such as the European Union, which from January 2025 will demand strict environmental certifications—requiring beef and soy to prove they are not linked to deforestation.

Carlos Riusech, CEO of Frigorífico Gorina, added a strategic view: while opportunities exist, the challenge is internal. “We need to improve efficiency, operate with predictability, and avoid export restrictions that harm our competitiveness,” he stated.

Both experts agree: if the current course is maintained, Argentina not only has the potential to regain its global prominence, but to become one of the world’s leading exporters of sustainable beef. The challenge is to seize the moment and not miss this historic opportunity.
